A three-year-old boy found alone in the front yard of a home at Melton, west of Melbourne, late last night has been reunited with his family.

Victorian police had earlier appealed for help to look for the parents or guardians of the toddler after he was found by residents on Marina Drive about 10:00pm on Monday.

Police said they had door-knocked the area immediately after the toddler was found but did not find his family.

The boy had not been able to tell police his name, or his parents’ names.

Police described the boy was softly spoken and happy.
